Concealed handgun licenses are processed and issued to residents of Crook County for the purpose of being able to lawfully carry a handgun concealed in the State of Oregon.  The licenses are good throughout Oregon, however, there are some areas that are restricted to concealed carry.  There are over 1200 persons in Crook County who are licensed to carry a handgun concealed. 

Oregon Revised Statute 166.291 states eligibility requirements that must be met in order for the Sheriff’s Office to issue a person a Concealed Handgun License. 

Applications may be obtained from the Sheriff’s Office.  Appointments are made for processing on Wednesdays from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.  The fee for a new permit is $65.00 which includes a $15.00 fee to process your fingerprints through Oregon State Police.  Renewal of an existing permit is $50.00.  If a person moves there is a $15.00 fee to print a new card as a change of address.  Permits are valid for a period of four years.
