The Sheriff Office is comprised of over 30 full time law enforcement members led by Sheriff John Gautney.

We work in partnership with citizens to preserve life, to protect property, to uphold the constitution, and to hold ourselves accountable to recognized professional law enforcement standards and our community.

Patrol Division

...provides initial law enforcement response to all crimes within 2,991 square miles of Crook County, 24 hours a day. 

ATV Patrol

...provides ATV patrol to the rural parts of Crook County, United States Forest Service land,
and BLM land. This position is funded by the Oregon State Parks & Recreation Department.

Emergency Management

...is charged with maintaining and exercising the county disaster plan and overseeing
related activities such as SAR, ARES/RACES, and Sheriff's Office radio communications.

Marine Patrol

...is staffed by four certified seasonal Marine Deputies and two seasonal Marine Aides. 
The Marine Patrol emphasis is on water safety and patrols all major water ways in the county.

BOR Patrol

...provides on shore patrol at the Prineville Reservoir under contract with the Bureau of Reclamation.

Search and Rescue

...is an all-volunteer unit that is responsible for providing search and rescue services
to the citizens of Crook County and serve as a supplemental resource for other counties.
